The Natural Sciences Department is hosting a Field Mouse Research Day. Interested juniors and seniors can attend to learn effective field mouse catching techniques. Cats will be trained to catch mice without hurting the prey and safely transporting the specimen to Harlan Hall laboratories.
The program has come a long way since its inception in 2002 when an unexpectedly high amount of field mice were consumed by student researchers during the collection process. In the years since, several changes have been made to the program including limiting the collection to juniors and seniors, and feeding the cats before heading out to the field sites.
